Querétaro - Safest City in Mexico

The state of Querétaro and the city of Santiago de Querétaro are among the safest places to live and travel in Mexico. In fact, Santiago de Querétaro holds the title of "Safest city in Mexico". The high level of safety enjoyed by the city is a reflection of its great prosperity, its stable local government, and a police department that boasts a level of corruption lower than that of comparable departments in Europe and the U.S.

Below you will find a graphic that compares the level of crime in Santiago de Querétaro with corresponding levels in cities elsewhere in Mexico, as well as a map that shows the distance between Querétaro and the places that have seen a rise in drug-related crime in recent months. Please move your mouse over the images to make them larger.

Another way to develop an ongoing and up-to-date picture of the quality of life in Querétaro is to view the city through the eyes of one of its residents. Burro Hall is a blog kept by a CBS reporter who lives with his wife in Querétaro while he is not on assignment.

At the Querétaro Language School we take the safety of our students very seriously. If you have any questions or concerns about safety, please do not hesitate to contact us.
